A square is 100 sq ft of roof. Asphalt shingle runs roughly 250 lb per square for a single layer — double it for a tear-off going down to the deck on a second layer.
Up to about 15 squares, single layer. Garage, shed or small bungalow.
Around 20–25 squares. The standard detached-home tear-off.
30+ squares, or a double layer coming off with the decking.
Placed For The Throw
Tell the dispatcher which elevation you are tearing off and the bin lands under it, not around the corner.
Early Morning Drops
Roofers start at sunrise. Bins can be on site from 6:00 AM so the first bundle has somewhere to go.
Shingles Recycled
Asphalt shingle is processed into road aggregate at facilities that accept it, rather than going straight to landfill.
